A Tone-Deaf Silence

How dare the International community? How dare social justice warriors, and the uninformed public alike allow a terrorist organization’s plot to channel the aggravations of their civilians into a violent protest against Israel actually be successful? How dare the UN hold a moment of silence for those killed on the Gaza border clashes with such near-sighted vision that they forgot to mention that of the 60 people killed, 50 of those were Hamas operatives with 3 more claimed as members of the Islamic Jihad? How dare news outlets report on the tragic death of a 14 month old baby without realized how disgustingly absurd it is that a parent would actually bring such a young child to a zone where there would undoubtably be tear gas?

After breaching the border with Israel, meat cleavers in hand, multiple Palestinian men were heard chanting “we are coming to slaughter you Jews”! In a failed attempt, another man (recorded by the soldiers who captured him), spoke of Hamas’s sick campaign to send women and children to the front lines with promises that Israeli soldiers would not shoot at women and Children. Hamas’s antics, however, do not need to be left to the confessions of this individual;— Hamas published locations of the nearest Israeli villages should there be successful border breaches in order for infiltrators to successfully murder Israelis and terrorize villages.

How can such naïvetè be allowed in a progressive society? In what world is there a bias so strong that a death toll comprising off over 80% confirmed members of terrorist organizations is mourned by the most powerful international body?

The UN’s mission statement claims it aims “to create and maintain international order”. Is propagating the Hamas agenda and mourning its terrorists while simultaneously bashing Israeli defense any definition of creating and maintaining international order? If so, I would not like to be a member of the International community. Shame on the United Nations, shame on the outrageous headlines of “slaughter” in Gaza, and most of all, shame on the entire world for failing to look at any realm of context behind the threat of a border breach by individuals with a promise of martyrdom to be rewarded upon the death of a Jew.

Thank you to the few journalists who have denounced their previous coverage of the events in Gaza, and for realizing the hypocrisy of mourning those who strive for the death of others.
